Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Reiki session like?

During a Reiki treatment, the client is typically lying on a massage table, though sessions can also be conducted while seated or standing. The client remains fully clothed throughout. Reiki is non-invasive and involves light to minimal touch. A full session generally lasts between 45 and 90 minutes.

What can I expect to feel after a Reiki session?

After a Reiki session, clients often report a variety of sensations and experiences that may be felt immediately or in the days that follow. Experiences vary from person to person, but commonly include:

  • Deep relaxation — Many clients experience a profound sense of calm during and after a session, which can contribute to reduced stress and anxiety.

  • Improved energy flow — You may notice increased vitality and a greater sense of balance as energy blockages are addressed.

  • Better sleep — Enhanced sleep quality is frequently reported, often attributed to the relaxation and stress relief experienced during the session.

  • Emotional release — Reiki can support the release of pent-up emotions, leading to greater emotional clarity, lightness, and new personal insights.

  • Physical sensations — Warmth, tingling, or a gentle pulsing in certain areas of the body are common and considered a natural part of the energetic healing process.

  • Increased self-awareness — Many clients find that Reiki deepens their connection to their inner wisdom and supports personal growth.

  • Reduced pain and discomfort — Some clients report a reduction in pain or discomfort associated with physical ailments or chronic conditions.

  • A sense of peace and well-being — A feeling of overall balance and well-being is one of the most commonly reported outcomes.

Because each person's energy system is unique, experiences will vary. Most clients, however, report positive outcomes and find that Reiki meaningfully supports their overall health and wellness.

Are there any side effects from a Reiki treatment?

Most people feel relaxed and uplifted following a Reiki session. Occasionally, as the body begins its natural healing and release process, some clients may temporarily experience mild symptoms such as a headache, fatigue, or an unsettled stomach. This is generally considered a normal part of the detoxification and rebalancing process. If this occurs, it is recommended to drink plenty of water, eat lighter meals, and allow yourself adequate rest as your body integrates the session.

What is the difference between a Distance Reiki session and a Virtual Reiki session?

Distance Reiki is performed remotely without the need for a scheduled live appointment. The practitioner connects with the client's energy field and sends healing Reiki energy with the intention that it will be received when the client is ready and open to it. This option is ideal for clients who prefer flexibility or are unable to schedule a live session.

Virtual Reiki is conducted live through a secure online platform, allowing the client and practitioner to connect in real-time from the comfort of their own space. The practitioner guides the client through the session, offering instructions, feedback, and support throughout. Virtual sessions provide a more interactive and personalized experience while maintaining the convenience of remote access.

Is Reiki associated with a religion or spiritual practice?

Reiki is not affiliated with any particular religion or spiritual tradition. While it has roots in Japanese healing practices, Reiki is a non-denominational technique focused on balancing and supporting the natural flow of life force energy. People of all religious, spiritual, and secular backgrounds are welcome to explore Reiki as a complementary approach to healing and well-being.
